Few ads have pissed me off as much as this one is the past few weeks. There's a lot of bad advertising out there as it is, but when it comes from a brand that generally has a good record of advertising to its credit, it's even worse. Add to that, I think this comes from Rediffusion... one of the agencies with the cleanest work in recent times. Which also adds to the disappointment. I mean, it's a freakin' braodband connection. Did we have to elevate it to the status of an entire generation's "mantra" or whatever the shit you call it? I know there's been this whole hue and cry about the power of the new awakening young India and all that jazz, but just because Jaago Re! did it, doesn't mean everyone has to do it. And then there are the actors and voiceovers straight out of some preachy PSA-typey thing. What a waste of a perfectly good opportunity. This one time I actually wish the agency has only the client to blame, 'cause I don't feel like losing respect for Rediff just yet.
